My parents never saw it coming. Growing up in the 80s, my parents had a Scandinavian Deli in Lakewood, Washington. They started off doing really well, and everybody loved it. A few years later, we moved to a Tacoma location in a strip mall.
Soon after the doors opened, the rent increased, and before they knew it, the rent went up four times in just four short months. They didn’t fully understand the fine print in the rental terms before signing, so they never saw the hike coming. They didn’t know what they didn’t know. But the next thing I knew, they couldn’t afford the rent and had to close their doors.
It’s from this experience that my love for helping Business Owners started. Now, I get to advocate for people like my parents. That’s what ignites my drive.
As an owner with three businesses (two in manufacturing and one in financial services) in my portfolio, I understand all sides.
